Rasogie Companionship & Befriending Service CIC provides safe, reliable, person-centred companionship support. We operate with strong safeguarding practices, professional standards, and a commitment to wellbeing and dignity.
Our Services
Our service is strictly non-medical and companionship based. Our focus is on emotional wellbeing, companionship, and social connection.
We do not provide:
- Personal care
- Medical care
- Nursing care
- Medication support
- Regulated health or social care activities

What Is Safeguarding?
Safeguarding is a range of activities undertaken by all of us to support the right of every adult and child to be safe. It is everybody’s business to put measures in place to protect those least able to protect themselves.
We hold the value that living a life free from harm and abuse is a fundamental right of every person we support. Every member of our team has an individual responsibility for the protection and safeguarding of children and adults.
We acknowledge our responsibility to promote the welfare of children and young people, and to protect adults at risk of abuse, enabling them to retain their independence, wellbeing, dignity, and choice. Safeguarding incorporates the concepts of prevention, empowerment, proportionality, and protection, and involves taking all appropriate action to address potential concerns, working to agreed policies and procedures in full partnership with other agencies where needed.
This requires a “Think Family” approach, as neither children, young people, adults, nor their families and carers exist or operate in isolation.
Our Commitment
Safeguarding is everybody’s business. At Rasogie Companionship and Befriending Service CIC, we believe that everyone we support has the right to live safely, free from abuse, harm, and neglect. We are committed to protecting the welfare of every person we work with, including children, young people, and adults at risk.
Every member of our team staff, volunteers, and befrienders has an individual responsibility to recognise and act on safeguarding concerns.
Who This Policy Protects
A child at risk: anyone under 18 has the right to be safeguarded from harm and exploitation (Children Act 2004). Abuse can happen to a child or young person of any age.
An adult at risk: a person aged 18 or over with care and support needs, who may be in vulnerable circumstances and at risk of abuse or neglect (Care Act 2014).
What Is Abuse?
Abuse can be deliberate or unintentional, and can come from a family member, someone the person knows well, or a stranger.
It includes (but is not limited to):
- Physical abuse
- Emotional or psychological abuse
- Sexual abuse
- Neglect or acts of omission
- Self-neglect
- Financial abuse
- Discriminatory abuse
- Modern slavery
- Domestic abuse
- Organizational abuse
Circumstances that can increase risk include domestic abuse, mental health issues, and substance misuse in a household.
Our Safeguarding Principles
We follow the six key principles set out in the Care Act 2014:
- Empowerment – supporting people to make their own informed decisions.
- Prevention – taking action before harm occurs.
- Proportionality – responding in a way that is proportionate to the risk.
- Protection – support and representation for those who need it most.
- Partnership – working with communities and other agencies.
- Accountability – being transparent and accountable in our safeguarding practice.
What To Do If You Have a Concern:
If you witness, suspect, or are told about abuse or neglect:
- Ensure immediate safety where possible. If someone is in immediate danger, or a crime is being committed, call the police on 999. For non-emergencies, call 101.
- Do not question or investigate the situation yourself.
- Report the concern immediately to our named Safeguarding Lead (see contact details below).
- Record what you have seen or been told, using the person’s own words where possible, as soon as you can.
- We will take appropriate action in line with local authority safeguarding procedures, and keep you informed where appropriate.

If you believe a child or adult is in immediate danger, always contact the police first on 999. For non-emergency concerns you wish to report to the police, call 101.
Data Protection (GDPR)
We handle personal information in line with UK GDPR. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
We ensure:
- Secure storage of information.
- Only necessary data is collected.
- Confidentiality is maintained.
- Information is only shared when required for safeguarding or with consent.
Complaints Procedure
If you wish to raise a complaint, we will:
- Acknowledge your complaint.
- Investigate fairly and promptly.
- Provide a clear response.
- Take appropriate action where required.
We aim to resolve concerns respectfully and efficiently.
